Brittany and Ryan were married on a classic autumn (though rainy at times) day here in Ottawa. They had a lovely reveal at the eternal flame on Parliament Hill to the amusement of a bus-load of Asian tourists with whom I was directly competing for the title of ‘master of excessive camera gear’. The weather didn’t dampen spirits though – Brittany was one of the happiest looking brides I’ve ever seen, brimming ear-to-ear all day, despite being made to dive under an umbrella from time to time to avoid a cool downpour or letting the train of her dress serve as a leaf sweeper. Brittany, who also works for TOAST SPECIAL EVENTS, actually spent her engagement year making exactly one thousand paper birds which she strung over the guests’ seats at the ceremony at the MUSEUM OF NATURE.  Thanks to both the bride and groom, their families, and my lovely girlfriend and assistant, Justyna, for making the day so smooth and enjoyable.

PHOTOGRAPHY JOEL BEDFORD WEDDINGS; WEDDING PLANNER LYNN LEE, WEDDINGS UNVEILED; FLOWERS MICHELLE VANDENBOSCH; WEDDING STYLIST CATALINA BLOCH; LIMOUSINE SERVICE FANTASY LIMOUSINE; CATERING THE WHALESBONE OYSTER HOUSE; BRIDE MAKEUP AMBER SHIEKH

When this lovely couple approached Justyna and I to photograph their wedding, what became obvious (and a bit worrisome) was that there wasn’t a planner, florist, or stylist yet booked – as that they weren’t planning on it either (well, maybe a florist, but no specific one).  As seen previously on my blog in their engagement session, Savannah & Blake had just under 6 weeks to plan their Ottawa Wedding – a task that would have  been enough, even for the most time-efficient amongst us, to induce panic. When this lovely couple approached Justyna and I to photograph their wedding, what became obvious (and a bit worrisome) was that there wasn’t a planner, florist, or stylist yet booked – as that they weren’t planning on it either (well, maybe a florist, but no specific one). With some consideration, Savannah & Blake realized that the planning required help of professionals, and reached out to a few great vendors to help with the event which was to take place in the backyard of the groom’s family home.

After all the preparations, decor, food, and visual treats were ready to go, it was time for us to arrive start shooting. Every detail of the was just perfect from decor to clothes to food to gracious guests to perfect timing to perfect weather – not to mention the very cool, very much in love couple who also happened to be very photogenic and oozing with personality. All in all, it was a really great day and know that Justyna and I were thrilled to be a part of this awesome day.

Until the next post! Thanks for stopping by!

Lindsey & Justin Ottawa Wedding

September 8, 2012 – I was privileged to photograph a wonderful couple in the closing days of summer – Lindsey and Justin were a photographer’s dream – They were full of expression, love, and smiles and weren’t shy to share their emotions for the camera. Though the weather was a little iffy at the beginning of the day, the clouds broke just after their ceremony (at one of Ottawa’s most stunning churches – The Knox), and we were blessed with some awesome light and a warm breeze.  The reception was hosted by Weddings InStyle – who always do such a nice job – and was another visual treat altogether based on the decor and emotional guests. Thanks to all involved, especially my lovely girlfriend Justyna who, again, was imaginative with the set-ups, shots, and never complained about carrying lots of gear. :)

PHOTOGRAPHY JOEL BEDFORD FINE ART WEDDING OTTAWA

My friends Mark & Kirsty got married in late September and invited me to be their wedding photographer – to which I most happily obliged. With perfect early autumn weather, lots of funny friends in attendance, tons of kids, and highly expressive and emotional family, it was really special just to be there, let alone recording the day. Thanks again to my friends and my girlfriend / assistant Justyna for making the day so much fun and memorable.

Ottawa Wedding Photography: Mariel & Daniel in Westport ON

Westport is a picturesque little waterfront town about an hour and change from Ottawa and a great place to have a summer wedding. This, the second wedding I photographed here in as many years, was a pleasure to photograph due to the warm hospitality of the awesome couple Mariel & Daniel, their friendly families, and the gracious hospitality of the staff at The Cove Inn. Wishing this delightful couple many years of love and happiness and looking forward to returning to this lovely town soon.

PHOTOGRAPHY JOEL BEDFORD FINE ART WEDDINGS STYLING JUSTYNA BARANIECKI

Justyna and I were very excited to shoot this lovely couple, Savannah and Blake on this crisp, sunny autumn afternoon in downtown Ottawa.   With their wedding  just weeks away, it won’t be long before I post some more photos of their big day.  Natural and easy going (and very much in love), these two were a delight to photograph and spend a couple of hours with. Cheers, Blake & Sav!
