We’re so happy to announce our new site today! Our blog has also moved there, so for all new posts, please visit the brand new www.JoelBedfordWeddings.ca
This is Ania, my childhood friend, cousin and an absolute angel in our family – dancing up a storm at our wedding in Poland earlier this year.
She is in the fight for her life right now. After being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 27, Ania underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and 4 years of treatment. We all thought and hoped this was behind us. Then, earlier this month, we found out that the cancer has returned to her spine, lungs and and neck. Unfortunately, there is no cure and the only hope we have is alternative medicine. We’re trying to raise some funds for her to go to the Gerson Institute so she can get the help she needs.
It`s quite difficult to write this from across the ocean, and not be able to hug her, or tell her a stupid joke to cheer up the mood. I wish I had go-go-gadget arms that stretched from here to Brighton, where she lives. But I don’t. So we’re trying to help in a way that we can.
We have a few dates open this summer, and we`d love to fill them with couples by donation. Meaning, if you book a wedding with us on June 20th, October 17th or 24th, 100% of the money will go to help Ania fight for her life and beat this once and for all. I’ll also be scheduling some mini family sessions in Ottawa this summer, with 100% of the proceeds going to Ania and her husband Kacper, keep your ears open for that. To find out more about the available dates, please contact us.

When you love someone, you refuse to imagine your life without them and you have to try everything you can. Thank you for reading and your support.
Despite our best efforts, there are some times that our couples are just too aware of the camera, or feel self-conscious in front of it. It’s natural. We roll with it and, most of the time, expect it. This – beyond the F-stops, lighting challenges, and focal lengths – is one of the main challenges of the photographer. To connect with the subject(s) and create an environment or mood that makes them forget about the production taking place.
This wasn’t the case with Corrine + Marc.
Corrine + Marc blew our socks off quite literally as we found ourselves chasing these two barefoot along the beach in Malibu, California. Completely unabashed, energetic as children, optimistic about everything and very obviously crazy about each other, this was an engagement photographer’s dream team. All we had to do was set the stage (pretty easy on a evening-lit beach in Malibu) and let them play. And they did play. We chased them, frolicking about in the waves, playing it up with each other. Sandy, soaked, their passion for life and love was easily absorbed by our cameras. All we really had to do was point and shoot. They filled the frame with their awesome selves.
Some frames from our delightful session below.
As rare as it is, sometimes it does actually rain in southern California. But that didn’t stop us from taking some really sweet photos of Liz + Logan, gallivanting around in the rain. We even stumbled upon a movie set, and ‘borrowed’ their lighting for a few shots. Rain has never really gotten us down – if anything, its dramatic and romantic. This session was also featured on The Norwegian Wedding Blog. Enjoy!
We went on an amazing adventure this past August with Diana & Maarten. Photographing their intimate and beautiful wedding in Seville was a dream come true! It could not have been more of a perfect weekend with them! Below are some of our favourite images, and you can see a few extras published on Junebug Weddings as well.
A kind word Diana:
“We chose our photographers Joel and Justyna from Canada out of 90 photographers who wanted to shoot our wedding in Spain. But Joel and Justyna’s way of capturing special moments attracted us so much. We already felt comfortable after the first Skype call. We are so happy that they wanted to travel to Spain just a week before their own wedding. We couldn’t be more happy with our beautiful pictures!”
So happy to share this day today!
I’m pretty sure this is the most beautiful venue we’ve photographed to date. OH MY. Frank & Giovanna, the sweetest of high-school sweethearts, were married after 8 years together at Twin Oaks Garden Estate in San Marcos California. Giovanna’s mother designed the wedding, and the details are absolutely scrumptious. It was exceedingly difficult not to put up every image from this wedding, how on earth do you edit these down?
We’re so thrilled to share this stunning wedding with you today, these two are beyond inspiring.
