Birthday. Coconut Cake. Kids. Smoked Sausages. Swimming.

Not necessarily in that order.

It was my brother-in-law’s birthday the other day so some of our family were invited up to their home in west Quebec to eat smoked sausages, have some drinks, explore puddles with the kids, and eat a massive coconut cake that my Mom exhausted all funds and energy to make.

My nephew and niece were in fine form (despite a little rash on Jade’s face and some recent stitches on Will’s forehead), laughing, stuffing their faces, and running half-clothed like little hippies. A simple little get-together (‘simple’, as I didn’t have to host, make food), which are usually the best kinds. We even got in for a swim, but I wasn’t trusting myself to juggle a beer in one hand and my Mark III in the other.

Lovin’ summer…
